55 GANSEVOORT is pleased to present Ethan Greenbaum’s LEAVE, on view 24/7 from January 8 to January 31. The exhibition features a site-specific installation of drywall sheets and prefabricated domestic doors. Responding to the various angles and nuances of the gallery, Greenbaum installs the drywall and doors in a dysfunctional arrangement that celebrates surface over egress.
Ethan Greenbaum received his BFA from Florida State University and his MFA from Yale University. His work convolutes the distinctions between photography and sculpture. He has had solo shows at Kansas Gallery, New York; Thierry Goldberg, New York and The Suburban, Chicago. He has also been featured in group shows at Hauser & Wirth, The Aldrich Museum, Higher Pictures, Halsey McKay Gallery, and has an upcoming show at Marianne Boesky Gallery.
The exhibitions at 55 Gansevoort are entirely visible, at all hours, by peering through the windowed doors.
