Pierre Bellot
Pierre Bellot’s intricate compositions deploy and distort everyday imagery. His refined color palette unfolds into a surface that carries a multiplicity of meanings, with a dual sense of clarity and complexity. Drawing from personal archives and a wide array of photographic materials, Bellot engages color-blocking techniques and perspectival warp to reconceptualize the visual methods of still-life, landscape painting, and collage. His works have a liminal, associative quality, occupying the space of the in-between. Bellot graduated from École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris, was a member of the French Academy in Madrid, at Casa de Velázquez in 2019-2020, and has exhibited work in Berlin, Paris, and New York.
